EconChallenge ONLINE
 
 

 
 
The EconChallenge ONLINE! is a chance to participate in the Economics Challenge Program without worrying about travel or budget constraints. Each team consisting of 3-5 students will compete in two divisions completing online exams that cover topics in macro, micro and international economics. Each student team will compete against other teams by answering 30 questions each within 35 minutes. The entire team will have 3 hours to complete the challenge. Team scores will be emailed to the teacher/coach.
 

Who

Teachers and students throughout the state of Hawai`i. All high school students are eligible. No formal courses in economics are required. All students interested in economics are encouraged to participate in the competition. Schools may enter multiple teams in their qualifying divisions.

 
When

Monday, March 3 through Friday, March 14, 2008.

At any computer with Internet access.
 
 
Why

To give students not taking an economics course a change to participate in the Economic Challenge program.

To give students participating in the Ecnoomics Challenge some practice!

 
 
Registration Fee

There is no cost to register or to participate in the EconChallenge ONLINE!
 
 
How

Registration for the EconChallenge ONLINE begins on March 3rd at the following website: www.econchallenge.org. Once registered, teachers will be able to create their student teams.
Each team of 3-5 students will compete against other teams by answering 30 questions each within 35 minutes. The entire team will have 3 hours to complete the challenge. Team scores will be emailed to the teacher/coach.
 
 
Divisions

David Ricardo Division: is restricted to students enrolled in one-semester or less high school course in any subject not labeled as AP, IB, honors, differentiated, or college level.
 
Adam Smith Division: is restricted to students enrolled in courses labeled AP, IB, honors, differentiated, or college level. Any economics course as a two-semester course also falls in this division.

The decision regarding the best division for a team is ultimately the choice of the teacher; however, teams are encouraged to compete in the division that would challenge them the most.
 
 
Prizes

Each team that participates in the EconChallenge ONLINE will be automatically entered into a drawing for prizes.

The Economics Challenge is funded by Island Insurance Companies and NCEE/Goldman Sachs Foundation. Additional funding has been received from the National Council on Economic Education through the United States Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement.
